Bio-Salma Valgarma Hayek was born on Sept. 2, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico. Hayek made her film debut by landing a role in the 1995 film Desperado. The actress followed that performance with a role in the 1997 romantic comedy, Fools Rush In and a brief part as a vampire queen in From Dusk Till Dawn. Hayek also went on to co-star in Will Smith’s mega-budget film Wild Wild West and additionally landed a supporting role in the Kevin Smith flick, Dogma.
The film actress, director and producer received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her performance as Frida Kahlo in the movie Frida. In 2000 Salma also played an un-credited part in the movie Traffic. That same year the actress turned to film producing and founded her production company named Ventanarosa through which she focuses on film and television projects. Her first works as a producer came in 1999’s El Coronel No Tiene Quien Le Escriba, which landed her a submission for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.
The 1996 horror flick, From Dusk Till Dawn was directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Quentin Tarantino. The movie depicts Hayek as Santanico Pandemonium. From Dusk Till Dawn went on to make a sequel, From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money and a prequel, From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman’s Daughter. What’s unique is that Salma didn’t really need to prepare her body for the upcoming role in the first From Dusk Till Dawn movie.
